This salaried part-time position (22.5 hours per week) is responsible for the successful leadership of the Raw Carrot Soup Enterprise extension site supervised by the Walking with People in Poverty Program Coordinator and is under the strategic direction of the franchise organization, the Raw Carrot HUB.
The Raw Carrot Extension Site Manager will be individual who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals living with disability through running an innovative programmatic social franchise.
The job involves meeting the social goals of a small team staff with disabilities and ensuring that the business is financially viable through the sales of soup or other products. This role also supervises a part-time program assistant.
Managing a commercial/institutional kitchen that produces consistent, high quality, soup together with staff living with disabilities and volunteers.
The Raw Carrot Extension Site Manager oversees the Raw Carrot kitchen and corresponding business activities from the church where The Raw Carrot is cooking. Various aspects of sales, marketing, speaking and awareness raising are also required, which take place in outside locations (vendor/craft shows, soup sampling, events, etc.)
This position will require some evening and weekend work, to accommodate activities such as meetings, representing the organization at public events, soup sampling and soup sales. This role has indirect accountability to the Raw Carrot Hub.

Required 3 - 5 or more years of progressive supervisory/leadership experience and/or a combination of applicable experience and education
Undergraduate degree in social work or equivalent human services education
Commercial/institutional kitchen experience with direct experience supervising the processing of larger batches/quantities of products, and meeting health and safety and public health standards
Experienced in project management, supply management, and distribution
Experience, passion/understanding of the current challenges facing vulnerable, marginalized populations
Safe food handling certificate (or completed immediately after hiring)
Well developed computer skills with a full range of Microsoft applications and software
Ability to work in a flexible work environment with competing demands and priorities
Organizational skills to coordinate day to day operations
Effective communication and relationship skills with a staff and customer focus
Ability to supervise and plan work for others supporting a team environment, including flexibility and adaptability
Valid 'G' Ontario driver's license
Police vulnerable sector check (required upon hire)
Legally able to work in Canada
Preferred Undergraduate Degree
Knowledge of the social enterprise sector
Key Responsibilities
Leadership
Oversee the Raw Carrot Soup Enterprise extension (franchise) site
Develop a yearly marketing and sales plan to guide sales pathways (with the HUB)
Act as a liaison between the Raw Carrot HUB, MCCO and the kitchen host site (Stirling Ave. Mennonite Church) on all aspects of the social enterprise activities
Act as a spokesperson for the Raw Carrot extension / franchise site
Conduct official correspondence on behalf of The Raw Carrot and MCCO as appropriate
Represent the Raw Carrot and MCCO at community activities to enhance community profile
Business Development
Ensure that the operations of the Raw Carrot site are in line with the Raw Carrot social franchise model (prepare, cook, package and sell soup or other products)
Oversee the efficient and effective day-to-day operations of the organization (production & sales)
Oversee the creation, implementation and execution of sales opportunities
Maintain workers health and safety accountability
Maintain quality control accountability and public health standards
Kitchen Operations
Support and direct staff and volunteers in the preparation of ingredients, cooking, proper cooling and packaging of all products produced
Develop weekly cook and packaging list and source all necessary ingredients
Monitor and maintain the employees' work schedule and submission of worked hours
Manage the production of high quality, gourmet soup
Equip the local kitchen with all necessary kitchen equipment
Ensure cleanliness and safety of the kitchen
Human Resources Planning and Management
Establish a positive, healthy and safe work environment in accordance with all appropriate legislation and regulations
Recruit, interview, select staff (with support from HUB and MCCO)
Ensure that all staff receive an orientation to their work environment and that appropriate ongoing training is provided
Implement the performance management process for all staff which includes monitoring the performance of staff on an on-going basis and conducting an annual performance review
Coach and mentor staff and volunteers to improve skills
Maintain privacy and confidentiality
Manage scheduling, hours of work and timesheets
Financial Planning and Management
Work with The Raw Carrot HUB to prepare yearly budgets and sales targets
Receive orders, request invoices, and make bank deposits
Support the MCCO finance department in any financial accounting when requested
Administer funds according to the approved budget and monitor monthly cash flow
Provide comprehensive, regular reports on the revenues and expenditure of the business
Community Relations/Advocacy/Marketing
Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, funders, politicians, and other organizations to help achieve the mission of the Raw Carrot
Participate in marketing, public relations and communications (marketing / website / facebook / instagram / press relations)
Fundraising & Events
Participate in fundraising activities and event coordination, as appropriate
Coordinate in-kind donations, corporate sponsorship, or investment
Team building: Onsite with volunteers & Off site with all other managing directors and kitchen coordinators
Donor correspondence
Other
Ensure employees adhere to company policies and legal regulations
Ensure staff on your team comply with the risk management policy and procedures and foster a culture where risks are identified and mitigated.
Ensure the support and direction necessary for the effective implementation of MCCO's health and safety program are provided and, health and safety policies, procedures and regulations are enforced.
Perform other job related duties as assigned
Participate in MCCO orientations, provincial meetings, Peace Conference and Staff Development Day
Participate in a local faith community, being willing to use personal gifts within this community and model nonviolent peacemaking through respectful interaction with others
