Job Summary:

We are seeking a Rates and Freight Audit Clerk to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for auditing and verifying freight rates and charges to ensure accuracy and compliance with established policies and procedures.

Van-Kam Freightways Ltd. (Van Kam) is one of the largest regional carriers in Western Canada specializing in less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation. With 8 terminal locations across British Columbia, we fulfill shipments to communities within 1-3 days throughout BC and Alberta. Between our own resources and our partner network, our coverage extends beyond Western Canada into the U.S. and Eastern Canada.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for audits, rating both US and Canadian bills, completing quotes and account coding.
  • Ensure Probill\'s are rated and audited correctly.
  • Manually rate invoices on certain accounts as per respective agreements in place
  • Liaise with Pricing Analysts for special one-time cost rates on some shipments.
  • Contact terminals / Weights & Measures department to get correct cube/scale.
  • Contact Interlines/Agents to confirm their charges.
  • Assist with quoting department with overflow of quotes.
  • Work on spreadsheets / reports
  • Work on and maintain queues throughout the day.
Required Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Have above average keyboard skills, excellent telephone manners and a strong customer service attitude.
Training and Experience
  • Experience rating within the transportation/freight industry is preferred.
  • Individuals with AS400 experience will be given preference.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of and understanding of the trucking industry.
