Railway Professional Machine Operator

Location:

Red Deer, Alberta

Compensation:

$35 - $40 per hour

Are you an experienced, skilled and safety-conscious heavy equipment operator with a passion for the railway industry? We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Railway Professional Machine Operator (PMO) to join our team in Red Deer, Alberta. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the maintenance and integrity of our railway infrastructure.

As a Railway Professional Machine Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of various on-track heavy equipment to support track maintenance, repair, and construction activities. This is a hands-on role that requires a strong mechanical aptitude, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic outdoor environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate a variety of heavy machinery, including but not limited to, tampers, ballast regulators, spike pullers/drivers, and other railway-specific equipment. Perform routine maintenance and inspections on all assigned equipment to ensure safe and optimal performance. Adhere to all railway rules and regulations, including the Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR), to ensure a safe working environment. Conduct track maintenance activities such as replacing rails, ties, and other track components. Work collaboratively with a team to complete projects efficiently and to the highest standards. Maintain accurate records of work performed and equipment usage.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Red Deer, Alberta.

Proven

experience

as a railway specific heavy equipment operator. Must be able to hold and maintain a valid Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) certificate. A valid driver's license is required. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment criminal record check and a drug and alcohol screening. Strong understanding of and commitment to safety protocols and procedures. Excellent physical condition with the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
