Assembles mechanical units or fabricated parts to make sub-assemblies or complete products within routine and repetitive assembly operations. Uses various hand and power tools and operates equipment which may include jigs, dies, fixtures, templates, punch presses, riveting machines, circular shears, and drill presses in order to cut, file, fit, punch, ream, rivet, form, and/or assemble. Fits, aligns, calibrates, and adjusts parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product requirements. Monitors quality of products and raw materials. May read simple blueprints. Performs simple routine maintenance and cleaning. Determines and corrects minor machine malfunctions. Typically has 3-5 years of experience and works under broad supervision. Typical job titles include: Press Operator, Machine Operator, Maker/Packer.

Job Summary:
Principal duties in this position are including but not limited to:

\xc2\xb7 Preparing and maintaining documentation for completion of rail car repairs in compliance with regulatory standards

\xc2\xb7 Perform necessary repairs to Hopper, Tank railcars and their components, including interior linings, light and medium-duty mechanical repairs, coupler servicing, changing out loading valves, airbrake testing, rail car bubble leak testing, etc.

\xc2\xb7 Inbound rail car inspections as required

\xc2\xb7 Read, comprehend, and follow repair orders and procedures

\xc2\xb7 Other related duties as assigned

This role requires the successful candidate to work a night shift 5:30PM-5:30AM.

Requirements:
\xc2\xb7 Strong written and oral communication skills

\xc2\xb7 Strong mechanical background with competent and safe use of hand tools and power equipment

\xc2\xb7 Must be able to read and understand written work orders, material safety data sheets, complete work write-ups, and other paper and computer work

\xc2\xb7 Prior railcar repair experience or similar, and knowledge of AAR standards an asset

\xc2\xb7 Perform and document quality control checks as required by Company and regulatory quality standards

\xc2\xb7 Adhere to both customer site and Procor\xe2\x80\x99s health and safety standards (including the Responsible Care policy), and wear the required personal protective equipment for the job in a safe manner

\xc2\xb7 Must be able to work in an environment with continuous exposure to outdoor weather conditions with dust, fumes, and noise

\xc2\xb7 The ability to work while wearing respiratory protection

\xc2\xb7 WHMIS training, experience dealing with hazardous commodities

\xc2\xb7 Must be able to climb, stoop, and bend repeatedly, carry hand and power tools.

\xc2\xb7 Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, around machinery, and in conditions where there are loud noises and fumes

\xc2\xb7 Confined space entry to repair hopper car linings

\xc2\xb7 Detail-oriented and committed to quality

\xc2\xb7 Excellent time management skills

\xc2\xb7 The ability to work independently or within a team

\xc2\xb7 Demonstrate a strong initiative and a positive proactive approach at all times

\xc2\xb7 Valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license required and reliable transportation to get to and from work
