Your Opportunity

An opportunity exists for a Rail Team Leader - Ontario and Atlantic Region.

The Transportation Group is growing and consists of over 200 multi-disciplined staff that are involved in the planning and design of rail and transit, roads, and bridges for Metrolinx, TTC, Town, Regions, municipalities, and other railway owners. These projects encompass the entire life of the project - from feasibility studies through detailed design, Technical Advisory, Owners Engineer Services, and construction oversight. As our Rail Team Leader in our Ontario and Atlantic Transportation Group, you will lead the team of professionals planning, modelling, and designing of various types of infrastructure and other transit, and rail projects while working with industry partners access the country. Our intent is to grow this practice area significantly across the company, and this is an opportunity to assist in developing our rapidly growing business.

Your Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Lead, manage and mentor a group of Rail Designers and Project Managers.

Champion and reinforce a high-performance, collaborative team culture.

Work alongside leadership in Business Development activities and market growth.

Support and leadership on financial oversight and compliance.

Take a proactive hands-on role in track design projects.

Support and collaborate with the Civil, Rail Systems, Operations teams.

Participate in the track design process through the conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design phases.

Completion of studies and analyses for rail related assignments.

Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure all work is integrated and completed to a high standard and with a consistent approach.

Participate in the preparation of design submissions, briefs, technical reports, design analysis and calculations.

Comply with Stantec Quality Management, Safety and Environmental policies.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Proven track record of managing people and projects.

Working knowledge of North American railway standards and regulations.

Knowledge and experience with the railway network and operators in Ontario, in and more specifically the GTA.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask effectively, meet the project deadlines and budget targets, while maintaining efficiency and quality of work.

Must be able to work well in a team environment.

Knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices and construction specifications.

Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Education and Experience

Post-Secondary Education and/or PMP is considered an asset.

Previous experience working for a railway is considered an asset.

Experience in railway track engineering and rail transit projects
