Responsibilities of this specific role will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Undertaking of rail systems design, operations and maintenance planning, interface design, requirements writing and support requirements engineering activities
  • Perform Rail Operations modelling.
  • Perform Service Planning Analysis
  • Perform Operations planning for normal conditions and degraded operations management.
  • Perform fleet size calculation, run time determination, dwell time calculation.
  • Assisting senior staff on a variety of projects such as new transit rail project and subway works across Canada.
  • Supporting efforts for site work on transit rail projects
  • Coordinating with multiple disciplines, including rail systems, and working in conjunction with project managers to help complete assigned tasks.
  • Writing reports for internal and external purposes based on findings.
  • Presenting technical material in traditional and innovative ways for review by technical and non-technical audiences
  • Conducts research and data gathering as required for Technical Advisory work.
  • Serve as key personnel in the requirement management and requirements database work in area of your responsibilities on projects.
  • Participating on multiple projects throughout their lifecycles, from market engagement, solution preparation, project execution and delivery, to project closeout
  • Understanding trends and best practices in the permanent way and rail engineering market
  • Participating in local Professional Associations
  • Support proposals effort when required in Operations area.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in engineering (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, Electronic, Information systems or similar)
  • Demonstrated interest in Rail & Transit Infrastructure
  • Sound knowledge of engineering fundamentals related to transportation.
  • Familiarity with drafting software
  • The ability to prioritize effectively, balance assigned work and exceptional organization skills required for our constantly evolving environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based working
  • Presentation skills with colleagues and clients of all levels
  • Must not require sponsorship, now or in the future to be considered for this role.
Preferred
  • Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, Electronic, Information systems or similar)
  • Professional Engineer Certification
  • Coursework in transportation design
  • Knowledge of applicable codes such as ISO, IEEE, IAC 15288, AREMA, Agency Design Standards, NEC/NFPA, and related specifications and standards for design of the above elements
  • Understanding of requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS or others
  • Comprehension of the Systems Engineering \xe2\x80\x9cV\xe2\x80\x9d Life Cycle Process
  • Fluency in 3D CAD software such as MicroStation and AutoCAD software to lay out right-of-way, rail alignments, drainage systems, roadway design, sidewalks and pedestrian accommodation, utility systems, and grading designs
  • Familiarity with civil engineering design and analysis tools for rail, roads, and/or water systems
  • Proficiency in data processing and analysis using tools such as Excel, VBA, Python, or other applicable tools
  • Evidence of past internship in the transportation sector
