The Role



This role has a mix of in-shop and in-field responsibilities. Some aspects of this role require direct interaction with clients. Program and prep new and rental equipment for the sales and rental departments. Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and test equipment such as radio transceivers and communications infrastructure components. Support the commissioning of communication systems. Perform on-site visits to help determine installation requirements for sales proposals and provide internal advice to the sales and technical departments on technical matters. Install communications equipment in shop and field environments, including inside buildings, tower sites, and various vehicles (Fire Trucks, Police Vehicles, Heavy Equipment, Passenger Vehicles). Perform preventative maintenance on communication systems. Use remote tools to diagnose and correct communication system issues. Some regional/overnight travel may be required. Paid rotational on-call will eventually be required.

Mandatory Qualifications & Skills:



Diploma in the field such as Electronics Engineering Technician/Technologist Or a combination of equivalent training & relevant work experience. A working understanding of RF Fundamentals of Land Mobile Radio (LMR). An understanding of electronics, including AC/DC systems, cabling, etc. An understanding of feedline and transmission principles, antennas, and filtering. Knowledge of basic electronics troubleshooting. An understanding of basic vehicle electronics and experience working with vehicles. A solid understanding of working with Windows PC hardware and related peripherals. Good mechanical aptitude and knowledge of essential tools and basic electronic test equipment.

Additional Beneficial Skills:



The ability to track time and tasks in a work order or ticketing environment. The ability to create/maintain technical documentation and diagrams. Experience working in a team environment, but also capable of working independently. Time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks. Strong verbal and written communication skills. The ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical people. General customer service and support skills. Working at heights training would be an asset.

Mandatory Job Requirements:



Must have a valid G driver's license & clean driving record. A third-party background check is part of the hiring process. Must pass a criminal background check & maintain police security clearance. Must comply with drug and alcohol testing policy.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
