Safety and Risk Services supports excellence in learning, teaching and research across the SFU community through collaboratively facilitating and advancing world-leading standards and practices in safety, security and the management of risk. About the Role

Environmental Health & Safety seeks to prevent human injuries and illnesses. EH& S provides guidance and advises in Research & Lab Safety, Construction Safety and General Safety at SFU. The EHS team establishes a safety culture at SFU.

The Radiation Safety Technician\'s role is essential to SFU\'s Radiation Safety Program and assists in assuring compliance with SFU\'s radioactive materials license. Maintenance of a radioisotope inventory and controlling and monitoring the acquisition, use, storage, transfer, shipping represents a main component.

The ideal candidate would have Lab management as well as advising skills to address research personnel and students on use of radioactive material.

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in Chemistry with training in Radiation Technology or Nuclear Chemistry. 3 years of minimum experience. An equivalent combination of formal education, certificate/program of study and experience is acceptable.

Scientific understanding of elemental nuclear chemistry is beneficial.
