SailNL and the Royal Newfoundland Yacht Club are accepting applications for the position of NL Racing Team Coach for the 2023 season. The RNYC Sailing School runs a Sail Canada CANSail Junior Sailing Program on Long Pond in Manuals, CBS, just minutes from St. John\xe2\x80\x99s. SailNL is the provincial sport authority for sailing and operates the NL Race Team. The NL Racing Team Coach is an RNYC staff position that is supported through funding from SailNL. Responsibilities include:
Contract length: 4 months
Part-time hours: 15-20 per week Salary: From $18.75 per hour Benefits:
Expected start date: 2023-05-01
- Ensuring the delivery of a fun and quality sailing and learning experience for all race team participants
- Developing a training program to improve NL sailor\xe2\x80\x99s technical & tactical skills.
- Travelling with the team to regattas in the Atlantic region.
- Ensuring all equipment is kept in a good and safe condition by conducting ongoing inspections and taking actions for maintenance as required.
- Responding to questions about programs and communicating with the general public
- Instructing CANSail lessons, as required
- Assisting with the set up and take down of the school fleet during the shoulder seasons
- Conducting yourself in an energetic, positive, and professional manner
- Other related duties as required
- Able to certify CANSail 3&4 (or higher). Registration and dues must be paid and certifications current by 1st June 2023.
- Experience instructing CANSail programs including instructing children and teens
- Provincial and/or Regional Race Team experience would be a strong asset
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
- Available from ~ May 1st to Sept 1st 2023
