Team & Culture
Our Quality Control team is growing, and we are looking for an experienced technician to join our field team. The successful candidate will have field and lab experience in Civil Construction and is comfortable testing soil & concrete. As a self starter you are comfortable completing tasks on your own but are collaborative and willing to take direction in a team environment. You have exemplary verbal and written communication skills and are comfortable working with data and reporting it in a timely manner. Due to the remote location of the site you are comfortable traveling through rough terrain and have a fitness level to meet the physical demands of the role including manual labour.
Expectations

  • Manage the setup and completion of quality control documentation and record keeping.
  • Review project drawings and perform field inspections.
  • Commitment to proper safe sampling and testing procedures for soil & concrete.
  • Ensure test results are documented and communicated to designated individuals including management, consultants, engineers, and others as required.
  • Record and report deficiencies and ensure they are corrected in a timely manner.
  • Work with Construction Supervisors for implementation of a project quality program.
  • Complete quality reports & checklists and upload all documents to the company drive with related pictures.
  • Update and maintain QC tracker and all other required documents.
  • Proficient with analyzing technical reports.
  • Ensuring work procedures and specifications are followed.
  • Documenting and submitting non-conformance reports.
  • Participate in weekly look-ahead meetings.
  • Ensuring timely delivery of all samples to the applicable laboratories.

Qualifications
  • Applicants with a Civil Engineering degree, or Civil Engineering Technologist Diploma will be given first consideration, however showing an acceptable level of competency through relevant work experience will also be considered
  • Intermediate level of competency using Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Minimum 1 year experience in the construction industry
  • Experience with lab testing of soils (Sieves & Proctors), or concrete testing. Experience with both would be an asset
  • Able to work shifts in remote camp location
  • Class 5 drivers license and comfortable driving in rough terrain to transport equipment &/or samples
  • Comfortable working at height
  • Physically fit to meet the demands of the job
