Job Summary:



Reporting to the Chief of Quality Practice, the Quality Practice Consultant provides support to the public, registered nurses, and employers to contribute to safe, competent, ethical, quality registered nursing care. This is accomplished through the application of relevant research and regulatory excellence in practice consultation, practice direction, standards development and implementation, education program review, and clear articulation of scope of practice for registered nurses.

Scope of this position:



Supports registered nurses in all areas of practice by providing education and consultation services to individuals and groups. Oversees and contributes to the competencies and associated projects for registered nurses, nurse practitioners, and registered nurse authorized prescribers in Manitoba. Oversees and contributes to the development, review and revisions of programs to support early identification of potential clinical competency deficiencies and remediation in collaboration with the registrant and their employer. Develops and implements online education for registrants regarding jurisprudence in conjunction with the Continuing Competency Program. Facilitates an understanding of registered nursing practice by developing informational resources for registered nurses, student nurses, the public, employers, and other health care providers. Delivers presentations to registered nurses and the public; facilitates and manages large group discussions and/or consultations. Assists in policy development. Contributes to provincial, national, and international initiatives related to registered nursing practice.

Education and experience:



Master's degree in nursing or related discipline.

Current CRNM registration as an RN

Minimum of seven years administrative and clinical experience in a variety of related settings, such as direct practice, education, administration, research. The ability to independently initiate and provide leadership in facilitation processes and conflict resolution techniques to manage difficult situations. Experience in managing professional practice issues. Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Experience presenting to large and small groups, alone or part of a team. Proficiency with MS Office 365 and knowledge of relational databases. Experience in educational program development and delivery is an asset.
This position requires excellent organizational skills, flexibility and attention to detail, a willingness and demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team, motivation to be self-directed, an ethical regard for confidentiality of information, and a professional presence.
