Qualifications:
Essential:
Post-secondary degree, in Social Sciences, Social Work, or a diploma in Child and Youth Care. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge of the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies and programs.
Demonstrated understanding of theories and tools as they relate to evaluating services.
Effective verbal communication skills.
Effective written communication skills to write clear and concise correspondence to a variety of audiences including detailed reports.
Experience working with children and families in a social service setting to plan, coordinate or implement services.
Effective interpersonal skills to develop positive working relationships within diverse work environments.
Ability to establish effective collaborative working relationships with government and non-government organizations.
Desired:
Experience of the operations or licensing of group homes.
Duties:
Working as a member of the Placement Resources Unit team, a Licensing Specialist ensures that children and youth experience safe environments and high quality services during their child care facility placement. The Licensing Specialist supports child care facilities by monitoring performance, increasing accountability, and promoting effective system practices to meet the needs of children and youth living in child care facilities. The Licensing Specialist works collaboratively with community organizations and CFS agencies to identify challenges and engage sector resources to support positive outcomes for children and youth.
