Durose Manufacturing Ltd, A leader and progressive manufacturer of fabricated Steel products, is seeking a Quality Inspector for their facility in Guelph.

Job Overview:



As a Quality Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of custom-fabricated components and assemblies. You will perform detailed inspections of complex, custom parts, ensuring compliance with client specifications, engineering drawings, and industry standards. This role demands a meticulous eye for detail, advanced technical expertise, and the ability to adapt to the unique requirements of custom fabrication projects.

Duties:



- Conduct thorough inspections of custom-fabricated components, including dimensional checks, fit-up, machining, weld quality, surface finish, paint, and non-destructive testing (NDT).

- Verify conformance to detailed engineering drawings, blueprints, client specifications, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements.

- Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections to ensure quality throughout the fabrication process.

- Utilize precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), height gauges, and other specialized equipment.

- Document inspection results, maintain detailed records, and report non-conformances with clear, actionable feedback.

- Collaborate with fabrication, welding, and machining teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.

- Assist in developing and refining quality control processes specific to custom fabrication projects.

- Examine material or product for defects such as cracks, porosity, and incomplete welds

- Support ISO 9001 audits and compliance efforts

Qualifications & Experience required:



- Completion of High School/High School Diploma or equivalent

- Previous experience in an ISO certified fabrication environment as an inspector but will also consider applicants with experience as a weld inspector, fitter, SQE or manufacturing specialist with a wide variety of process skills.

- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a custom architectural and or medium to heavy OEM fabrication or machining environment.

- Expertise in reading and interpreting complex technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T.

- Proficiency with precision measurement tools and techniques, including CMM operation.

- Strong knowledge of welding inspection, surface finish evaluation, and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods (e.g., visual, ultrasonic, or magnetic particle testing).

- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems and lean manufacturing principles.

- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to unique project requirements.

- Effective communication skills and ability to work closely with cross-functional teams.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) for documentation and reporting purposes.

- Certification in Quality Control (e.g., CQI, CQT) or NDT certification is an asset.

- Experience with custom fabrication is a plus.

This opening is for Day Shift: - Mon to Thurs (6:30am to 4:00pm) Fri- (6:30am to 3:00pm) 44hrs/week however a split shift or occasional rotation of shifts may be required.
