Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Quality, Health Safety & Environmental Supervisor to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing quality, health and safety programs that ensure compliance with regulations and promote a safe working environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a proactive approach to identifying potential hazards while fostering a culture of safety within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Quality:
Supervise and support the team across multiple operational areas
Monitor compliance with ISO standards (e.g., ISO 9001) and nuclear industry regulations (CNSC)
Conduct inspections, audits, and quality investigations across decontamination and RPPE production processes
Maintain and improve quality management systems (QMS) and document control procedures
Support root cause analysis, non-conformance investigations, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
Assist with internal and external audits, including client and regulatory body inspections
Train and mentor staff in quality processes, documentation, and standards
Maintain up-to-date departmental SOPs and ensure staff are trained accordingly
Support the supplier quality program by maintaining documentation and compliance records
Maintain calibrations of process equipment
Prepare monthly reports of key performance indicators
Health & Safety:
Maintenance of ISO 45001 - Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems - Requirements across the facility
Establish, implement, maintain and revise the Health & Safety Program for senior management approval.
Promote awareness to all employees in Health & Safety.
Develop training plans & schedules for instructional training on Health & Safety subject matters, policies and procedures for senior management approval.
To review and audit the Health & Safety Program annually.
To support and assist the Joint Health and Safety Committee Members on the monthly meetings
Recommend training as necessary.
To review and investigate medical aid and critical injuries as well as Accident/Injury/Incident Reports and make recommendations as necessary for future investigation.
To be familiar with and interpret appropriate Standards and Codes.
To track on a monthly basis, all injuries, and lost time hours per month for KPIs
Environmental:
Maintenance of ISO14001 across the facility
Maintain and monitor environmental programs and policies
Conduct required environmental observations, tests, and analysis
Inspect hazardous waste/materials storage areas
Assist in identifying the training requirements of all personnel as related to the Environmental Management Systems
Keep records to make sure the organization is complying with all environmental laws
Review and complete environmental audits and identify areas for improvement
Review all incident reports and investigations to ensure that the root cause is identified corrective actions are taken
Requirements
College or University graduate with an Occupational H & S Certificate
10 years experience as QH&S Coordinator/Supervisor in any industry, with minimum 5 years in the Nuclear Industry
Strong working knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, 14001, ISO 45001 or equivalent)
Excellent understanding of inspection, auditing, and risk assessment techniques
Experience within the manufacturing and/or nuclear environment
Environmental knowledge and training.
Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards.
Excellent communication skills for training development and employee engagement.
Strong analytical skills for assessing risks and implementing preventive measures.
Proven leadership abilities to influence a culture of safety within the organization.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
