This position is responsible for effectively and efficiently following two main functions: Problem Solving and Systems Development, Implementation and Improvement. This position reports directly to the Quality Manager while working alongside the Quality Control Team. Within the Problem-Solving function there is responsibility for root cause analysis of Customer and Supplier rejections and as well as internal quality issues. From a Systems Development, Implementation and Improvement point of view, the Quality Engineer would be involved with New Product Development, Quality Systems development, Continuous Improvement, Data Analysis, and Calibration and Industry Standards as well as the standardization of processes.
Position Requirements:
1. Corrective Action
a) Investigate customer complaints
Establish immediate, effective, and comprehensive containment.
Determine Root Cause through effective use of Quality tools.
Formulate effective interim and permanent corrective actions.
Audit and verify corrective actions.
b) Investigate internal corrective actions
Establish immediate, effective, and comprehensive containment.
Determine Root Cause through effective use of Quality tools.
Work with cross-functional teams to formulate and implement effective interim and permanent corrective action(s).
Audit and verify corrective actions.
c) New Product Introduction and Approval
Participate in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
Manage systemic evaluation of new tools and associated tooling.
Lead systemic Launch Containment, monitoring, analysis and corrective action.
Lead internal Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
d) Quality System Development and Implementation
Develop and analyze the database for both external customer complaints and internal rejections.
Manage and maintain drawing and tooling control (including gages).
2. Continuous Improvement
Use Quality tools, i.e. Cpk analysis to find opportunities to improve process capability
Use Quality tools to reduce scrap and improve yield.
3. Data Analysis
Review, analyze and prepare reports on both external issues (customer and supplier rejects) and internal issues (internal rejects and internal capabilities).
4. Calibration and Industry Standards
Manage calibration of measuring devices used to maintain product quality.
Apply Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) to verify the robustness of the Quality measurement system.
Ensure that the Quality System meets the requirements of AAMA.
Job Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably chemistry, physics, mechanical, or industrial engineering (or equivalent work experience).
Knowledge of extrusion process in manufacturing and tooling experience is an asset.
1-2 years of experience in a quality engineer position.
Experience in AUTOCAD is required.
Advanced computer skills using MS Office products, and various manufacturing software.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Strong organization skills, and ability to handle job related matters in a professional, diplomatic, and confidential manner.
Effective leadership skills.
Excellent skills in oral and written communication.
Hours of Work:
8 Hours a day: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
