Astrex is currently looking for a Quality Engineer to join our growing team. The Quality Engineer will report to the Quality Manager serving as a liaison for communication regarding quality, and any service issues and concerns. Primary responsibilities include:
Develop, implement, audit and maintain the institutionalized quality systems in accordance to applicable standards (e.g. IAFT & ISO)
Responsible for APQP participation, submission of PPAPs, development of control plans and relevant quality documentation
Manage PFMEA documents to drive preventative actions throughout the facility
Lead plant trials for engineering changes, tool moves and new programs
Address quality issues, including GD&T, gauge design, testing requirements and timing, and capability study requirements
Liaise with customers to support requirements
Manage and lead projects, as required
Other duties as assigned
The successful candidate will possess a university degree or technical diploma in a related field, along with a formal quality education and ASQ certifications in CQE, CSSGB or CQA. A minimum of three years of experience in quality engineering in an automotive manufacturing environment is also required. Other necessary skills and qualifications include:
Ability to effectively prepare and conduct product and process audits (internal and supplier) to applicable standards and report audit results
Proven competency on preparation of PPAP and knowledge of AIAG 5 Core Tools
Advanced knowledge of metrology and calibration
Experience dealing directly with customers
Excellent investigative and problem-solving skills with enhanced attention to detail.
