The Quality Engineer plays a vital role in guaranteeing product quality, optimizing process efficiency, and ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations. This position is essential for identifying the root causes of non-conformance and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement corrective and preventative measures, thereby upholding the highest quality standards for our electrical products.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement, and maintain quality assurance procedures and policies.
Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure product quality meets or exceeds industry standards.
Oversee the quality control processes from raw materials through final product assembly.
Support development, implementation and revisioning of Manufacturing Procedures (MP), Work Instructions (WI) and Safe Operating Procedures (SOP's)
Support Manufacturing Engineering department goals and objectives, and ensure key KPI's are on target
Assists in process improvement initiatives and works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to implement changes.
Use data analysis and statistical tools to improve manufacturing processes and reduce defects.
Assists in the implementation of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
Participate in audits and regulatory assessments, maintaining all necessary documentation.
Investigate and analyze product defects or non-conformities to identify root causes.
Audit and provide suggestions to relevant departments related to corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to prevent recurrence.
Collaborate with the procurement team to assess and monitor supplier quality.
Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the organization.
Collect, analyze, and present data on quality performance using statistical tools and quality metrics.
Stay up to date with relevant industry regulations and standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IEC, UL) and ensure compliance.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.
P.Eng designation is an asset
5+ Years of experience as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing environment, ideally in electrical and/or transformer manufacturing.
3+ years' experience with regulatory compliance (ISO 9001, IEC, UL) and auditing processes.
3+ years' experience in designing, presenting, and implementing corrective and preventative actions.
Previous experience and knowledge of transformer manufacturing process and power transformers is preferred
Comprehensive knowledge of electrical manufacturing processes and relevant quality standards.
Advanced excel skills are a must
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities with experience in conducting root cause analysis.
Proficiency in statistical analysis tools and quality management systems.
Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
Effective communication to speak at all levels within the company
Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams and lead process improvements.
Quality certification (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Engineer) are considered an asset.
