Reporting to the Corporate Quality Manager, the Quality Control Technologist ensures that all the products delivered to clients meet specifications and are free from defects. This role also safeguards that materials and products from suppliers enter the Weatherhaven system compliant with all requirements. The primary goal is to enhance quality and environmental performance across product reliability, manufacturing efficiency, and supplier development.
Key responsibilities also include warranty analysis, preparing customer quality reports, supporting corrective action initiatives, and representing the Coporate Quality Manager during their absence. From time to time, the role may involve special projects as assigned.
Responsibilities
Conduct daily quality inspections for incoming materials, in-process items, and finished products in accordance with drawings, sampling plans, inspection sheets, or direction from the Corporate Quality Manager.
Verify supplier documentation and certificates of compliance.
Support supplier qualification and assessment activities.
Report inspection findings and promptly escalate discrepancies.
Manage quarantining, labelling, and tracking non-conforming materials, subassemblies, or finished goods in accordance with the Nonconformance (NC) process.
Support and monitor the First Article Approval (FAA) process for production parts.
Prepare and maintain quality documentation including: Nonconformance Reports (NCR), Corrective Action Reports (CAR), First Article Inspection (FAI) reports, First Article Approval (FAA) reports, and Requests for Waiver.
Ensure integrity and compliance of all quality control processes and records, including IQC, OQC, NC and FAA with timely resolution of quality-related issues.
Collaborate with production teams to investigate and resolve manufacturing issues,.
Maintain calibration of inspection tools, equipment, and jigs as required.
Verify adherence to work instructions and quality standards during assembly and testing.
Assist in compiling data for quality metrics and reports.
Actively participate in Continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing product and process quality.
Health and Safety Responsibilities:
Reporting hazards/unsafe work conditions.

Environmental Responsibilities:

Work to ensure compliance obligations are in compliance.
Understand environmental aspects and they impact the environment.
Assist in investigations of environmental incidents.
Report environmental concerns.
Qualification and Education:
Diploma/Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Technology, or equivalent relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
Professional engineering registration to EIT, LEL, or LET at a minimum.
Minimum 5 years of hands-on inspection experience with metal components and assemblies, or equivalent manufacturing/assembly experience.
Proficient with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools.
Ability to read technical drawings with a solid understanding of GD&T.
Experience with inspection documentation and quality records.
Knowledge of mechanical assembly and welding practices (CWB Welding Inspector Level II preferred).
Supplier auditing and development experience is an asset.
Familiarity with basic statistical tools (Pareto, Histogram Gantt Charts) is preferred.
Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Environmental Management Systems (EMS) is required.
Ability to obtain security clearance
