Quality Control Lab Assistant (3 Month Contract)

Then we are looking for you!Position function: Reporting to the Quality Supervisor, the individual will be responsible to support QA and QC requirements and process monitoring that supports the delivery of safe quality products to our customers.Scope: Located in our Mississauga location within the QC team, the position will manage multiple, ongoing tasks to ensure safe quality ingredients and finished products. This position will work closely with Manufacturing, Shipping and Receiving, Purchasing and Replenishment, Customer Service, R&D, Regulatory and Sales.Major Tasks & Duties:

  • Support shop floor QA monitoring of sanitation programs, production records, pest control, incoming shipments
  • Support the QA team in the development and implementation of HACCP and GMP programs and procedures
  • Support GLP's for record keeping, lab supplies (chemical and reagents), etc.
  • Coordinate with production teams to ensure blending procedures are up to date and verified for manufactured products
  • Update SOP's base on changes identified.
  • Positively release incoming materials and create the related lot numbers and COA's.
  • Conduct incoming sampling.
  • Support shipping department by providing the COA with delivery of product as per customer requests
  • Conduct ingredient evaluations; validate conformance to existing product
  • Maintain lab and working areas clean, organized, stocked with supplies as required
  • Complete all others duties as assigned by Quality Supervisor/Manager
  • Comply with all company policies
Knowledge/Skills and Experience:
  • Must be willing to work hands on with operation employees to ensure compliance and comprehension of food safety policies and programs
  • Must possess strong interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills
  • Must be able manage multiple priorities and deliver results within expected timeliness
  • Must be self-motivated to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail, computer skills.
  • Science Background (Food Science an asset)
  • Working experience with Food Quality and Safety Programs and GMP's is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of GFSI standards is considered an asset
