Quality Control Coordinator

The Quality Control Coordinator will be responsible to serve as a resource to Alberta Plywood as well as coordinating programs with Slave Lake Veneer. As a member of our Leadership team, in Edmonton, this position will report to the General Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Cooperative management of the Quality Control Program
  • Analysis and communication of quality performance
  • Identification and implementation of corrective actions as necessary
  • Cost management and leadership in continuous process improvement
  • Analytical support for operational and capital improvement strategies
  • Technical support for mill personnel as necessary
Our ideal candidate would have:
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and good team building skills
  • Goal oriented, detail oriented, and interested in advancement and professional growth
  • Capability to work in an unsupervised position effectively and be highly motivated
  • Maintaining and improving productivity and grade
  • Ability to push for continuous improvement in all areas of the mill & between Divisions
  • Trouble shoot and work with peers
  • Understand statistical process control and other process improvement tools
  • Good understanding of safety, quality, production, cost control, and continuous improvement concepts & policies
  • Qualified applicants will have excellent computer skills
  • Possess a degree, diploma, or equivalent in wood processing, forestry, engineering, science or manufacturing or have relevant experience
  • Should be willing to work flexible hours and have a willingness to travel for training, information sharing and in development of the QC programs for the division
  • Must have demonstrated strong initiative and work habits
