The Quality Auditor and Coach supports the Regional MQM and Bakery QA teams across multiple sites to drive continuous improvement to set up the bakery teams for success. Overall, this role ensures the facilities are in compliance with Wonderbrands Policies and Procedures, GFSI - BRC and regulatory compliance. This role will be on site in the regional bakeries on a rotational basis to carry out internal audits and coach colleagues to engage them in food safety and quality. The focus of this role is to identify opportunities for improvements in the food safety and quality programs. The

Tasks and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leads and conducts unannounced Internal Audits of all bakeries in the assigned Region on a weekly basis. (1 bakery per week)
  • Prioritizing internal audits to identify key focus areas that will drive improvements in food safety and quality.
  • Plan, schedule and execute the internal audits across all bakeries in the region.
  • Cross audit bakeries in a different region periodically, either as a back up to another regional auditor or in keeping with auditors in the regions being calibrated and consistent in their approach across the organization.
  • Develop Quality Management System SOPs, including updating and improving the same in collaboration with team members and other cross functional teams.
  • Through the Internal audits, ensure bakeries are prepared for BRC audits.
  • Develops an audit template that will reflect the needs for compliance to Wonderbrands QMS, SFCA, FSMA (for bakeries that export), and specific customer requirements.
  • Capable to assess risk and mitigation strategies, short and long term.
  • Ability to verify activities against the documented procedures/forms/etc and determine the root cause beyond a 'fix it' mind set.
  • Maintain the audit non conformance tracker and follow up directly with the MQM and Bakery leadership teams to collaborate on corrective actions and timelines.
  • Identify trends from the audits to establish common opportunities across the region and locally as well.
  • Develop a scorecard, in collaboration with the MQMs, Bakery Leads and Operation leads which will demonstrate continuous improvement in the bakeries overall audit status.
  • Is a hands on, boots on the ground mindset, who can audit the bakeries during different shifts.
  • Capable to engage with all roles in the bakeries, as part of the audit process.
  • Coach bakery employees about the 'why' behind what is required. Be part of the change.
  • Validate HACCP programs.
  • Analyze trends from bakery complaints, non conformances and third party audits to adjust the audit scope/schedule.
  • Support training initiatives, as requested by the MQMs.
  • Identify best practices and sharing in the region and nationally with peers.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned or re-assessed.
Requirements: * Strong interpersonal, influence and leadership skills and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with the bakery leadership and operations colleagues.
  • Excellent oral and written English skills. (includes French for the Montreal location).
  • Skill to document findings and data clearly, concisely, and accurately and prioritizing the same.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced production environment
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Is action driven, high energy and understands how to work in a fast-paced work environment (make and ship).
  • Able to work flexible hours and shifts (afternoon/nights) including weekends, as required.
  • Travel to bakeries weekly across the region.
Education: * Knowledge of GFSI (preferably BRC), food safety (HACCP) programs, Preventive Controls, and Quality Systems
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Engineering, Microbiology or a similar discipline with equivalent experience.
  • 7-10 plus years QA experience in a food plant with auditing experience, including QMS development.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, data analytics, SAP, Visio, minitab.
