Our Production Factory on Kingsway in Vancouver, BC is looking for a permanent Quality Assurance Technician to join our Quality Assurance Team.

Our Quality Assurance Technicians are responsible for activities associated with the development, implementation, monitoring, maintenance, and improvement of the company\xe2\x80\x99s quality system. This includes monitoring conformance to specifications and standards through testing and internal audits, data analysis, record maintenance, reporting on trends and performance indicators such as customer and store complaints, as well as conducting refresher training for employees. Job Duties and Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to): \xe2\x80\xa2 Documents, implements, complies and enforces SQF policies and procedures \xe2\x80\xa2 Executes and enforces food safety and quality procedures such as monitoring\xe2\x80\xafof good manufacturing practices; performs inspections, calibrations and environmental, sanitation and pest control monitoring and verification. \xe2\x80\xa2 Monitors performance of food safety and quality program by checking conformance of production activities to standards, monitoring and completing quality-related forms, and conducting line inspections \xe2\x80\xa2 Provides SQF training, including GMP training and other quality and food safety training needed to execute the food safety and quality program.

  • Executes the non-conformance process, including root cause analysis and corrective action and preventative action reporting; troubleshoots production issues, implements corrective action and verifies completion, as assigned. Performs material, in-process and finished product sampling and testing and oversees lab testing Monitors the document control process to ensure only current documents are in circulation and records are accurate and timely Assists the QA manager in the development, maintenance, documentation and improvement of quality and food safety related processes Assists the QA manager in performing internal audits and during third-party audits Conducts product shelf-life analysis and monitors compliance to shelf life standards Distributes product samples for sensory evaluation and testing; tabulates and reports results Complies with all safety policies, accident prevention and compliance programs; reviews work areas for potential issues that could result in losses Maintains nutritional information database and updates product specifications; ensures compliance of any new materials to determined standards; and analyzes the effects of the introduction of new materials in the factory Develops, reviews and approves labelling changes. Liaises with product development and production teams to ensure successful commercialization of new products. Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: \xe2\x80\xa2 Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Food Science \xe2\x80\xa2 This is an entry-level position or up to two years of experience \xe2\x80\xa2 Advanced ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English \xe2\x80\xa2 Strong ability to lead and influence others and create a team environment \xe2\x80\xa2 Excellent organizational skills \xe2\x80\xa2 Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Genesis, and other Quality related programs \xe2\x80\xa2 Strong knowledge of GFSI-scheme in a food environment \xe2\x80\xa2 Demonstrated problem solving and root cause analysis abilities Purdys Chocolatier recognizes the value of skills and knowledge gained outside of formal education and paid employment.
