HIRING BONUS: total amount of $1,000*

  • $500 after completion of Three Months of employment (90 days)
  • $500 after One Year of continuous employment (365 days)
  • Note: New Hires referred by current employees of Tree Island will not be eligible for the Hiring Bonus.

SUMMARY Reporting to the Quality Assurance Supervisor, this position is responsible for providing technical information that will assist the Operations group in achieving the highest standards of product excellence. Take action where opportunities exist to facilitate change to improve our quality system. The position requires membership in the MoveUp Union, Local 378, and currently operates on a 7 Day/12 hour continuous shift rotation from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Candidates must have reliable transportation. The ability to maintain OFA Level 2 certification is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Time sensitive samples testing of wire products including: tensile strength testing, dimensional measurements, coating thickness measurements, some chemical testing of process chemicals, etc.
  • Perform all tests and record results as required by product specifications, including final inspection of all wire products.
  • Communicate with operation personnel and assist with corrective action when off specification material is detected.
  • Record rejects into 4-R System.
  • Liaise with shift supervisors to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
  • Supply technical assistance to operations on interpretation of specifications.
  • Assist with Patrol Inspections and ISO 9001 Quality Audits as required.
  • Perform process and environmental standards testing as required. Monitoring Waste Water Treatment Plant for Regulatory Compliance.
  • Perform calibration of measurement equipment as required.
  • Assist in product and process trials.
  • Assist in customer complaints investigation.
  • Assist in project work as required.
  • Act as First Aid Attendant and respond to first aid calls.
  • Act as Shift Supervisor on weekends as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • A related Technical certificate in Quality Control, Materials, Chemistry, or Operations Management.
  • Industrial First Aid certificate at Level 2.
  • 2 – 3 years of Quality Assurance experience in heavy industrial environment.
  • Ability to interact constructively with other employees to achieve positive results.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced heavy industrial environment.
  • Must be computer literate – MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with MFG Pro would be an asset.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
