THIS IS NOT A FOOD RELATED POSITION

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that our products meet the highest quality standards through rigorous testing and analysis. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of quality control processes, and the ability to work effectively in a laboratory environment.

Responsibilities



Self-motivated to achieve daily and weekly goals with minimal supervision. Comfortable working alone with remote supervision. Maintain strict adherence to safety procedures. Responsible for developing and maintaining lab documentation / reports following laboratory procedures and policies Ensure compliance to industry standards (i.e. API 936 and ASTM) as well as company standards and specifications Maintain calibration of quality assurance testing and measuring equipment as per lab policies Perform inspections of as-received samples and report on any abnormalities or missing documents from client. Operate a planetary mixer as applicable to client needs. Operate a concrete saw to cut specimens from cast blocks of refractory as applicable to client needs. Prepare and maintain test data for review by Manager(s) and Engineers. Evaluate data and draft reports using proprietary application, noting any relevant deviations from existing standards. Communicate quality or compliance concerns with urgency. Responsible for general housekeeping of lab and basic maintenance of equipment.

Qualifications



High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required as a minimum Comfortable learning safety procedures and documentation for laboratory Capable of having a solid understanding of adhering to test equipment safety and operation procedures Familiar with refractory or concrete type materials preferred but not mandatory Familiar with basic use of MS WORD, Excel and Outlook programs Ideally, minimum of 2-5 years of refractory material installation, inspection, laboratory and/or production experience. Experience with quality control for concrete related materials will also be accepted. Exceptions to qualifications may be acceptable if demonstrating competency and attitude for learning job specific tasks Motivated to learn new things Ability to lift and/or move sample blocks up to 28 kg Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision Excellent organizational skills with a level of attention to detail Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret information as needed Job specific training to be provided on laboratory safety and test procedures Facility in Stoney Creek, ON area Will be a new facility in ON to expand upon well established locations in AB 10% to 20% out-of-province travel for work may be required for 1 week to 4 weeks periodically. Part-time with possibility for full time Compensation competitive and will be based on current skills, knowledge and experience Will report to Lab Manager and President as required

Pay: $25.00-$33.00 per hour
