We're expanding our operations with a new start-up beverage production facility and looking for a hands-on Quality Assurance Technician to join our team and help us build this next chapter.

About the Role



We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated

Quality Assurance Technician

to join our team at our new beverage production facility. This position plays a key role in developing and maintaining a

CFIA-compliant Food Safety Program

for a new

start-up beverage

operation.

Working closely with an external food safety consultant, you will help

coordinate, implement, and document

all aspects of the

Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR) Preventive Control Plan (PCP)

, ensuring that our programs and processes meet regulatory and brand requirements from day one.

You'll split your time between production floor and documentation activities, ensuring food safety and brand standards are followed in real time and all required records are accurate and audit ready.

Key Responsibilities



Program Development and Implementation



Support the development and implementation of the

CFIA-compliant Food Safety Program

, including prerequisite programs (PRPs) and process controls. Work alongside the consultant to prepare documentation, records, and validation materials aligned with SFCR Preventive Control Plan (PCP) requirements. Assist in mapping process flows, product descriptions, and plant layout for regulatory documentation. Participate in hazard analysis and risk assessments (biological, chemical, and physical).

Quality and Compliance Monitoring



Conduct in-process and finished product checks (e.g., pH, Brix, sensory, etc.) Monitor sanitation, allergen control, equipment maintenance, and environmental conditions. Verify adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and hygiene procedures. Support traceability, recall mock exercises, and documentation control. Assist in establishing and maintaining supplier approval, ingredient traceability, and recordkeeping systems.

Team Collaboration & Continuous Improvement



Support coordination and delivery of GMP and food safety training for production employees. Act as a key liaison between the internal production team and the external consultant to ensure consistent communication. Participate in internal audits and readiness checks for CFIA or third-party inspections. Track non-conformances, deviations and CAPAs to ensure timely resolution and effectiveness Identify and recommend improvements to enhance quality and safety performance.

What We're Looking For



College diploma in Food or Beverage Technology, Quality Assurance or a related field, or 2+ years of hands-on QA experience in a food or beverage manufacturing environment Knowledge of CFIA, HACCP, or PCP systems (training or experience is an asset).
