Position Purpose:

Collaborate closely with the Senior Project Manager and Senior Mechanical Engineer

to define design parameters and processes that align with custom project goals and client expectations.

Manage and supervise the Quality Assurance team

across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring on-time sample delivery and equipment delivery within budget and to the required quality standards.

Hands-on with equipment testing

and adept at resolving technical challenges to ensure robust and reliable product performance.

Design, monitor, and execute product development projects

from concept through completion, maintaining a proactive sense of urgency to support customer needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead and supervise the Quality Assurance team through effective assignment of duties, setting of priorities, delegation of work, and scheduling. Design, implement, and oversee experiments and trials in alignment with customer requirements; lead the Quality Assurance team to support clients in bringing new products from concept through commercialization. Establish product and process requirements; schedule pilot plant runs and determine pass/fail criteria of the process. Prepare and perform demo runs to potential customers at the office or on the client's site. Research and development of new products; analyze, collect data, document, and present findings to management (and customers when requested by Senior Management). Lead and document commissioning activities, including test results, deviations, and corrective actions.
Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) with customer participation, and provide customer orientation and machine training; travel to customer sites as required when commissioning or training cannot be performed remotely.
Manage the development and maintenance of SOPs and testing protocols for product evaluation and dehydration standards and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Oversee and develop training material and technical manuals. Manage the Quality Assurance team's compliance with food safety standards and operational best practices, ensuring a clean and well-maintained lab and pilot plant. Assess processed products using both qualitative (sensory) and quantitative (bacterial, chemical, and nutritional) analyses to ensure compliance with food safety and client requirements. Collaborate closely with the Project Manager and cross-functional teams (Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sales & Marketing) to ensure machinery commissioning aligns with pre-defined requirements. Work with engineers to provide post-sales machinery support, addressing operational and maintenance needs through clear and effective communication.

Qualifications:



Education:

Master's degree in a science-related field (e.g., Food Science, Chemistry, Materials Science) or equivalent experience/qualification.



Experience:5+ years of experience managing and mentoring a team of Food Scientists/technicians. 5+ years of experience in the production and manufacturing industries is required. 5+ years of R&D laboratory experience is required. Strong knowledge of plant QA systems (e.g., HACCP, GMP) and food regulations. Strong computer skills; Microsoft Office (Word, Exce,l and PowerPoint)

Professional Certification:Food safety, GMP, and ISO training or certification preferred. * Class 5 driver's license with access to a personal vehicle.
