The Role

We are looking for a curious and innovative electrical Quality Engineer. In this role, you will use your technical competencies to develop quick containment and robust long-term solutions to different problems as they arise. You will work side by side with our program team, production teams, and fellow engineers to create a work environment free of personal injury. You will collaborate on creative improvements to manufacturing processes and present the Assembly Plant and Engineering Staff with clear problem definition and technical guidance on electrical problems.

What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Do (Responsibilities)

Promote a workplace safety culture that prioritizes every employee\xe2\x80\x98s safe return home

Provide input on quality standards and procedures for the plant

Lead, mentor and support our supplier action group when managing emerging issues and containment initiation

Diagnose electrical manufacturing, engineering and supplier issues that affect warranty, Global Customer Audit, Direct Run Rate and Direct Run Loss

Assist production in prevention of defect occurrence and recommend process changes

Generate unique technical solutions utilizing Seven Diamonds Process, Red X, Voice of the Customer, and Electrical First Time Quality results

Support the launch of our new Bright Drop commercial electric van by working collaboratively with our pilot team, Issue Resolution Team, production leads and GM engineering

Coach suppliers when addressing Supplier Practical Problem Solving (SPPS) issues, ensure proper containment and robust long term corrective actions

Review nonconforming parts and sub-assemblies for proper initial disposition and root cause follow-up

Lead electrical engineering changes and drive the Production Trial Run (PTR) process for electrical part changes

Inspire fellow colleagues to success through recognition and celebrating moments that matter

Coordinate the development of safe and effective electrical manufacturing procedures which ensure quality installation of harnesses and electrical components

Organize your creativity and through application of General Motors\xe2\x80\x99 Global Manufacturing System (GMS), and Built in Quality (BIQ)

Additional

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

Bachelor\'s degree / Technologist diploma or equivalent experience

Demonstrated manufacturing knowledge and Quality engineering experience (Manufacturing Engineering and/or Plant)

Interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with others, motivate and support production team member needs

Technical competencies aligned with leading fast-paced manufacturing environment

Ability to lead electrical supplier or engineering related concerns to resolution

Commitment to customer focus

Passion for continuous improvement, innovation and the ability to infect others with that same drive
