Position Overview

Aecon was selected by Fraser Crossing Partners to build a four-lane cable-stayed bridge over the Fraser River. This project is valued at $967.5 million dollars.

The QA/QC Inspector is an exempt position and will have to exercise discretion and independent judgement on a regular basis which demonstrates proficiency in being able to complete quality control inspections in the field. May give functional guidance to craft and/or lower-level technical personnel. Willingness to relocate to construction site location is expected. The QA/QC Inspector will sit at our precast yard located in Richmond.

Key Responsibilities

• Understand and interpret technical drawings for roadways, retaining walls, precast panels, and bridge structures.
• Conduct quality control inspections on retaining walls, precast panels, bridges, and project structures.
• Confirm the work is in accordance with the project plans, specifications, and industry standards.
• Effectively documents, follows-up and closes corrective actions - both internal and external.
• Promotes safety awareness including adhering to safety rules and requirements.
• Verifies that the production processes and final products are in compliance with the Project requirements.
• Collaborates in \xe2\x80\x9cthe implementation of\xe2\x80\x9d Quality Policy, Processes, Procedures, and related documents.
• Reviews Quality \xe2\x80\x9cdocumentation\xe2\x80\x9d to verify compliance with industry codes and standards, regulations, and regulatory commitments.
• Collaborates with management for interface on Quality activities with internal or external organizations (customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and others).
• Reviews documents prepared by internal or external organizations such as quality manuals and procedures, technical deliverables, test plans and procedures, purchase orders, and subcontracts.
• Perform material inspection on permanent material coming to site.
• Recognize non-conformities and monitor that the disposition is carried out correctly.
• Monitor daily progress and prepare daily reports.
• Performs other responsibilities as required.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Bachelor\'s degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology Diploma, a combination of education and industry experience will be considered.
• 5-10 years\' experience in heavy civil and/or infrastructure construction.
• ACI/CCIL certification preferred but not required.
• Understanding of construction quality standards and processes.
• Experience in precast fabrication and /or bridge construction
• Driver\'s license with a clean driver\'s abstract.
• Self-directed, motivated team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
• Proficiently with MS Office Suite.
• Able to work long hours and night shift when required.
