Position: QA Technician (Food & Meat Manufacturing)

The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for supporting the food safety and quality program within a meat manufacturing facility. This role ensures compliance with CFIA regulatory requirements and SQF certification standards. The QA Technician performs product inspections, documentation verification, and supports continuous improvement of the food safety system.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct daily pre-operational Inspection, ensuring the plant is ready for processing, meeting CFIA and SQF standards. Conduct daily verification of production processes, CCPs, sanitation, allergen controls, and GMPs, make sure all staff are following the best product handling practices and sanitation procedures. Perform product sampling, evaluations, aW, pH and basic laboratory tests, check the physical attributes of the products like weights, lengths, width, and thickness, responsible for ensuring products meet a CFIA, SQF, company's and customer's operational standards and expectations, monitoring manufacturing operations, monitoring product process flow, and reporting defects. Ensure accuracy and completeness of QA documentation and regulatory records. Assist in internal audits, traceability exercises, and regulatory compliance activities. Identify non-conformances, assist in root cause analysis, and support corrective/preventive actions. Monitor and enforce food safety, quality, and HACCP requirements. Support continuous improvement initiatives for food quality and safety programs. Training the employees on food safety procedures and GMPS. Communicating with the management about the deviations, non-conformances, inconsistencies, and scopes of improvements at different steps of operations. Work closely with operations and making sure SOPs are being followed. Critical eye on the processing line to identify the issues before leaves the plant. Familiar with chemical titrations inspection. Create work orders for the maintenance team when needed and follow up on completion. Review the approved supplier list and make sure all received food and non-food direct contact materials are from a Federal /SQF approved supplier. Assist the site QA Supervisors, Managers and Directors in the organization, maintenance, and control of the quality system.
Requirements

Food Safety and Quality Control Experience: 2 years (required). Basic understanding of CFIA regulations and SQF requirements. Knowledge of HACCP principles (Certification is an asset). Knowledge of SQF principles (Certification is an asset). Strong documentation and record-keeping skills. Ability to work in refrigerated processing environments. Strong communication and attention to detail, Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
Skills & Qualifications

Diploma or Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, or a related discipline. Experience in food or meat manufacturing is an asset. Assessment and analysis of this role will require significant attention to detail, particularly in terms of assessing a product's quality and analyzing recurring manufacturing errors or defects. Ability to identify deviations and escalate concerns appropriately. Basic microbiology or product testing knowledge is an advantage. Teamwork, time management, and problem-solving skills. Basic knowledge of using ERP system. Computer skills - Microsoft Office.

Job Types:

Full-time, Permanent.

Salary: $21-23.00 per hour (Will be reevaluate based on performance and qualifications).
