Job Summary: Quality Assurance (QA) Technician
The
Quality Assurance (QA) Technician
is responsible for ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and quality standards within the manufacturing facility. Acting as the backup HACCP Coordinator, the QA Tech plays a crucial role in maintaining HACCP compliance and supporting the development of a strong food safety and quality culture (SQF). This role oversees GMPs, hygiene, sanitation, pest control, and waste handling programs to maintain a high standard of food safety. Additionally, the QA Tech ensures the accurate completion of essential documentation related to inbound/outbound shipments, batch summaries, packaging, and daily hygiene records.
Working closely with the QA team, production staff, and other stakeholders, the QA Tech reports compliance issues, participates in weekly meetings, and ensures all policies and procedures meet SQF requirements. As a trained member of the employee orientation and refresher training group, the QA Tech contributes to workforce development by reinforcing best practices and compliance measures.
QA Tech Responsibilities:
? Serves as the backup HACCP Coordinator and to manage HACCP compliance related requirement and expectations linked with site food manufacturing operation.
? Ensures the effectiveness of the GMPs, Area Hygiene, Sanitation, Waste handling and Pest Control programs for the facility and any associated food grade chemicals storage areas.
? Ensure completion of all inbound and outbound forms
? Ensure completion of all production batch summary forms
? Ensure completion of all packaging forms
? Ensure completion of Daily Hygiene Forms
? Responsible to report compliance issues to the quality and food safety supervisor
? Ensures the effectiveness of the Pre-requisite Program (Training, Allergen Program, Specs and Process Quality Control, Waste Management and others) for the facility and any associated food products warehouse and storage areas.
? Support the Senior Management in establishing HACCP as the foundation of the food safety management (SQF) and quality culture.
? Bring all paperwork and policies to compliance as per SQF requirements
? Act as one of the trained members of employee orientation and refresher training group.
? Follow up and uphold policies and tasks assigned to QA Techs
? Attend weekly meetings with Techs to ensure progression is happening on the floor
? Attend weekly meetings with QA team, Production Team & other stakeholders to resolve issues being faced.
? Report all quality related issues to the right channels
? Ensure follow up on all infrastructural deficiencies
Education & Experience:
? Diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in food science, microbiology, or a related field preferred.
? Previous experience in a QA or food safety role within a food manufacturing environment is an asset.
? Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, SQF, and food safety regulations.
Skills & Competencies:
? Strong attention to detail and ability to follow regulatory standards.
? Excellent organizational skills for document completion and compliance tracking.
? Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with various departments.
? Ability to identify and report compliance issues promptly.
? Basic understanding of sanitation and hygiene practices in food manufacturing.
? Training experience or the ability to support employee orientation and refresher training programs.
? Problem-solving mindset to help resolve quality-related issues and infrastructure deficiencies.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
