Job Description


A career in our Accounting and Tax Reporting practice, within PwC Private, will provide you with the opportunity to help private companies with a range of business advisory services to resolve their day-to-day business issues and to help them achieve long-term success. You will advise clients on their local tax affairs, while acting as a strategic consultant, and will help them manage their tax obligations across unique but ever changing tax specialties. Our team helps our clients with accounting and complex tax reporting. You will focus on planning and executing notice to reader and review engagements; drafting and filing local financial statements; reviewing personal trust and corporate income tax returns, and other tax reporting forms; and will assist with year-end planning and bookkeeping. Our PwC Private teams help entrepreneurs, private business owners and family enterprises manage their ownership and growth at every stage, in a way that fits the needs of their business in today's changing global landscape. Purpose-led work you’ll be part of:
As an Associate, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. PwC Professional skills and responsibilities for this management level include but are not limited to:
  • Invite and provide evidence-based feedback in a timely and constructive manner.

  • Work with existing processes/systems whilst making constructive suggestions for improvements.
  • Validate data and analysis for accuracy and relevance.

  • Keep up-to-date with technical developments for the business area.
  • Communicate confidently in a clear, concise and articulate manner - verbally and in written form.
  • Seek opportunities to learn about other cultures and other parts of the business across the Network of PwC firms.
  • Uphold the firm’s code of ethics and business conduct.

Experiences and skills you’ll use to solve:
  • Accounting diploma or degree from a College or University
  • Minimum one year in public accounting firm an asset
  • A strong grasp of technology
  • An aptitude for Excel, complex calculations and data analysis
  • Solid research capabilities (i.e., quantitative analytical skills with an emphasis on writing skills)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, Experience with Caseware, Tax Prep, Google, Quickbooks and Sage is an asset
  • Takes ownership for own work’s quality, compliance and technical accuracy
  • Sound knowledge of Canadian corporate tax
  • Solid accounting skills, including accounting for investments and stock portfolios and understanding of ASPE
  • Good organizational and project management skills, and a positive attitude
  • Ability to work in a consistently fast-paced environment and to meet tight deadlines
  • Mature self-starter who possesses the intellectual curiosity to delve beyond the surface of a particular issue; proactive and self-motivated problem solver
  • Effective communicator and team player. Can also work independently and critically think through and resolve issues.
