YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Further develop and implement purchasing strategies to ensure a steady supply of quality materials at optimal costs.
Source, evaluate, and establish relationships with reliable vendors and suppliers.
Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to achieve cost savings and favorable agreements.
Collaborate with project managers, production teams, and estimators to determine material requirements and lead times.
Monitor inventory levels and place orders to prevent shortages or excess stock.
Ensure purchased materials comply with project specifications, company standards, and industry regulations.
Track deliveries and resolve any supply chain issues to avoid project delays.
Work with accounting to ensure accurate invoicing and payment processing.
Stay informed on market trends, new materials, and cost fluctuations affecting the millwork industry.
Maintain detailed purchasing records, supplier performance data, and cost analyses.
Develop and enforce purchasing policies and procedures to streamline procurement processes.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY OPERATE IN THE ROLE EDUCATION:
Referenceable work experience in purchasing in the millwork / construction industry is a priority, and a post-secondary education in supply chain management, logistics, or business administration would be beneficial.
EXPERIENCE
5+ years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in architectural millwork, woodworking, or construction industries.
SKILLS / COMPETENCIES REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY EXECUTE THE ABOVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
Proficiency in purchasing software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines.
Knowledge of wood products, hardware, laminates, and other millwork materials is highly desirable.
