The Purchasing Manager, NAM, EHS, will create and develop best-in-class standards, processes, and a team for purchasing activities across select SGS business units. Process improvement and rationalization to lead the transformation of the purchasing activities to an efficient, collaborative, and strategic purchasing team is critical to the success of this role.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Primary responsibility is to oversee and manage the procure-to-pay (P2P) process for the select business and ensure the timely and efficient acquisition of goods and services in compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to rationalize supplier base, establish preferred supplier relationships, and minimize maverick spending.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Purchasing strategic plan, including the buying channel strategy, encompassing organizational requirements and ambition for future profitable growth of the business.
  • Analyze complex situations and data, providing creative solutions to achieve desired result.
  • Design and implement efficient P2P workflows and systems to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • P2P optimization: Get detailed understanding of end-to-end P2P process from the Purchase Requisition (PR) creation and approval to invoice payment. Identify the retouch/recycle/rework root causes and explore/implement root solutions including set up of the team, roles and responsibilities, process improvements.
  • Lead and mentor the Purchasing team, including driving accountability, setting performance objectives, regular team meetings and communicating direction and changes, and training.
  • Develop, manage, and assess purchasing and inventory performance through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), metrics and use data to drive continuous improvement in support of business management and strategy.
  • Develop and maintain strong internal and external business relationships, across all levels, working closely with Operations and Functional Procurement Management.
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable (AP) to reduce/eliminate AP issues creating invoice payment delays and errors.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree required: Business, Chemistry, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or related field.
  • Certifications in disciplines such as Procurement (SCMP/CPSM), Inventory Management (CIPS), Lean Six Sigma, or Operational Planning preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in purchasing transformation and change within an operating site setting; driving performance; consistently producing superior results in a team-based collaborative environment; and working with dynamic, diverse, cross-functional teams.
  • 10 + years of progressive experience in purchasing management and 5+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience of leading team
  • In-depth knowledge of procure-to-pay best practices.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead a team.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, problem solving, decision making and time management skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of accounting and budget practices.
