Norstar is looking for a motivated individual to join our growing team as Purchasing Manager.

The Purchasing Manager will oversee and manage all procurement activities to ensure that Norstar Industries secures the highest quality materials and services at the best possible value. This role is critical to maintaining production efficiency, controlling costs, and supporting strategic business goals. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, experienced in supply chain management, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The Purchasing Manager will also oversee Norstar's inventory levels and ensure that Inventory and Cost Control are regularly monitored and managed.

The Purchasing Manager will use Norstar's ERP system to execute and monitor Purchasing & Inventory functions.

Duties and Responsibilities:



Procurement Management

- Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with company objectives.

- Manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure competitive pricing.

- Maintain and improve supplier quality, on-time delivery, and responsiveness.

Inventory and Cost Control

- Monitor inventory levels and minimize negative inventory alerts.

- Ensure timely placement of purchase orders to prevent stockouts or overstocking.

- Partner with production and finance teams to optimize cash flow and reduce carrying costs.

Process and Systems Oversight

- Lead cycle count programs to maintain high inventory accuracy.

- Evaluate and implement purchasing software/tools for efficiency.

- Establish KPIs, including late purchase orders and accuracy variance, and provide monthly reports to Director of Operations.

Compliance and Risk Management

- Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.

- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including supplier performance and geopolitical factors.

Leadership and Team Development

- Foster cross-functional collaboration with engineering, production, and customer service teams.

- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

Key Competencies:



- Minimum 5 years of purchasing/procurement experience in a manufacturing environment

- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is a plus.

- Strong negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills.

- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
