Your responsibilities will include obtaining quotes, placing purchase orders, provide forecasts, expediting deliveries and communicating vendor performance metrics. The buyer will work closely with the Proax Sales Team, Branch Managers and Accounting Department. This position requires the use of initiative and independent judgment along with a degree of technical knowledge. Responsibilities

  • Create purchase orders to fill orders and maintain stock levels for 5 branch locations utilizing existing approved vendors
  • Resolve purchase price variances and inventory adjustments
  • Provide feedback to Sales and Branch Managers regarding product supply issues
  • Perform required expediting functions as required; follow-up with suppliers on status of orders/backorders
  • Prepare regular stock rotation with Vendors
  • Work with Sales to resolve customer service issues
  • Arrange and monitor the logistics of scheduling shipping requirements and ensure that we are receiving the best freight rates available
  • Work with Accounts Payable to resolved Purchase Order pricing or quantity issues to support prompt vendor payments
  • Develop a strong positive rapport with all our vendors, and become their main contact
  • Work with Vendors to ensure product availability, delivery scheduling and to solve any pricing or other issues.
Work experience requirements
  • 2-3 years inventory management & purchasing experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Well organized with the ability to multitask in busy work schedule
  • Analytical skills to process and present data and reports for problem solving
  • Self-motivated person with strong attention to detail
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • 5+ years\' experience with Microsoft Office Suite software and Excel is required
  • Familiarity with product line of automation controls is an asset
  • Bilingual (French/English) is an asset
Education requirements
Supply Chain Management Professional designation (SCMP) or enrollment in the Strategic Supply Chain Management Leadership Program Why join our team
