Job Description

As the Purchasing Assistant with Can-Traffic Services, you will be integral to the procurement process, supporting the team in sourcing and negotiating with vendors to secure the best pricing and terms. Your core skills in purchasing and negotiation will be essential in managing vendor relationships and ensuring timely delivery of materials. Proficiency with ERP systems will enhance your ability to track inventory and streamline operations.

What you will do everyday



Complete recurring purchases, when necessary, by obtaining quotes, preparing requisitions and subsequent follow-up with selected supplier (e.g. approved carriers, office supplies, health, and safety supplies etc.). Collaborate with inventory team to develop reports that can be used by Maintenance, Construction, Shop, Office and Yard departments to monitor and control inventory. Update receiving calendars for upcoming deliveries. Assist and provide support to Yard Personnel and Management as required. Review requisition orders for accuracy Identify and flag large, planned inventory increases for evaluation by Leadership Team. Review and maintain optimal inventory/replenishment parameters. Investigate receiving discrepancies and make suggestions for process improvement. Correspond with vendors regarding price changes and negotiate prices. Deal with returns and warranty issues Assist with coordination of the inventory counts Develop process improvements to achieve company inventory goals. Other duties as required.

Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines with flexibility, and multi-task with minimal direction. Ability to be adaptable, manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment. Proven ability to work with a variety of people, foster collaboration, and influence. Ability to follow written and verbal directions. Ability to frequently lift, push, and slide packages that typically weigh up to 50 lbs. Demonstrated organization skills and strong attention to detail. Energetic and positive professional attitude. Ability to work well under pressure.

Qualifications Needed



High School Diploma with 2 years related experience in an inventory and asset management, logistics, or procurement role. Class 5 Drivers License
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $54,000.00-$62,000.00 per year
