OVERVIEW Hecla Yukon owns the majority of the historic high-grade Keno Hill Silver District located in Canada\xe2\x80\x99s Yukon Territory. We\xe2\x80\x99re developing two underground new deposits, the Bermingham mine and the Flame & Moth mine. This is a great opportunity to be part of the team that is operating one of the highest-grade silver operations in the world. We are looking for an individual to join our growing team. The Purchasing Agent will report to the Supply Chain Manager. Your primary responsibility will be to procure materials, goods and associated services for all operations, maintenance, and support functions. The work schedule for this position will be office remote/home-based working a 40-hour week (5x2) with periodic travel to the Keno Hill Mine operation in Elsa, Yukon. KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Efficiently & effectively manage the purchasing cycle from needs assessment & RFQ through to invoicing.
  • Negotiate competitive pricing as well as terms and conditions with vendors considering commercial and technical aspects.
  • Generate comprehensive Purchase Orders for materials, equipment and services and communicate in a timely and professional manner to all key stakeholders as required.
  • Proactively monitor open Purchase Orders ensuring deliverables are met and actively communicate updates to key stakeholders.
  • Review supplier performance (OTIF) and track purchasing savings.
  • Coordinate with vendors and logistics companies the timely shipment of priority orders to site in order to meet operational requirements.
  • Investigate and resolve Purchase Order and invoicing discrepancies.
  • Review and update inventory management criteria and complete stocking requests for new and existing items.
  • Coach and mentor other employees regarding Supply Chain systems, policies and procedures.
  • Manage key supplier relationships.
  • Engage in Supply Chain continuous improvement.
  • Practice and promote company environmental, health, safety, and operational policies and procedures.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Post-secondary education in commerce, business administration or a related field
  • Related Professional Supply Chain certification (CSCP, SCMP\xe2\x80\xa6) preferred
  • Advanced computer skills and knowledge of ERP systems (eMaint) as well as MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with a wide range of people
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Customer service orientation
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced Team environment handling multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Self-motivated with strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
Experience:
  • Minimum 5+ years of related experience in purchasing, procurement, contracts and or inventory management
  • Knowledge of materials management, logistics, transportation and governmental regulations
  • Knowledge of end-to-end supply management processes including competitive bidding, contract management and supplier performance management
  • Experience working at a remote mine site operation and in a cross-cultural work environment
