Wabash is seeking a positive, highly organized, detail-oriented Purchaser to join our team in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have strong business and purchasing acumen, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work closely with internal teams and external suppliers to keep projects on schedule. This is on in person, on-site position.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate daily with Project Managers to understand and forecast material and supply needs.
Purchase materials and supplies in alignment with specifications, budgets, and project timelines.
Proactively follow up with suppliers and internal departments to reduce delays and resolve any procurement issues.
Independently source alternative materials, suppliers, and delivery options when required.
Coordinate with Shipping/Receiving to ensure purchased items are delivered and processed as expected.
Build and maintain strong vendor relationships; negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
Keep accurate, detailed, and up-to-date records of all procurement activity, including material quantities, specifications, and purchase history.
Assist with forecasting to support future purchasing plans and inventory management.
Qualifications
Strong interest and/or experience in business, finance, purchasing, or supply chain.
Knowledge of heavy-duty vehicle parts (asset).
Intermediate to expert proficiency with MS Office applications and ERP management systems.
Excellent English communication skills (written, verbal, electronic).
Exceptional attention to detail--data entry accuracy is essential for this role.
Experience with inventory control processes.
Strong organizational, record-keeping, and time-management skills.

Duties
Source and evaluate suppliers to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability
Manage vendor relationships, negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules
Utilize SAP, ERP systems, and MRP software to process purchase orders and track procurement activities
Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to determine material requirements
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with supply chain teams to prevent shortages or overstocking
Conduct market research to identify new sourcing opportunities and stay informed about industry trends
Ensure compliance with company policies and procurement regulations
Maintain accurate records of purchase transactions, vendor performance, and contract details
Support continuous improvement initiatives in sourcing strategies and procurement processes
Qualifications
Proven experience in purchasing within a manufacturing or supply chain environment
Strong knowledge of SAP, ERP systems, MRP, and procurement software tools
Excellent vendor management skills with the ability to negotiate effectively
Familiarity with sourcing strategies, pricing analysis, and supply chain management principles
Ability to analyze data related to pricing, lead times, and supplier performance
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external vendors
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials required for production planning
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field is preferred
Ability to work independently with attention to detail under tight deadlines
