Honey Bee Manufacturing Ltd. is seeking a detail-oriented and organized
Purchaser
to support the procurement of materials, components, and supplies used in the manufacturing of agricultural equipment. This position requires a proactive approach, strong follow-through, and the ability to coordinate effectively across departments.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory and Procurement Support
Generate and issue purchase orders based on established reorder points and usage trends.
Maintain accurate purchasing records, including pricing, lead times, and delivery dates.
Prepare and distribute reports on material usage and consumption rates to support inventory planning.
Focus Area: Non-Inventory Purchase Orders
Manage non-inventory PO's for R&D projects, maintenance requirements, and unique one-time purchases.
Source parts, supplies, and materials that fall outside regular procurement cycles.
Work closely with R&D, Maintenance, and other departments to understand specifications, timelines, and purchasing needs.
Vendor and Supplier Coordination
Request and compare quotes from approved agricultural and industrial suppliers.
Confirm order status and follow up on deliveries to support production and project schedules.
Assist in resolving delays, shortages, or issues with non-conforming parts under the guidance of the Purchasing Manager.
Order Processing and Recordkeeping
Enter purchase orders into the MRP system and update records as required.
Track deliveries, match packing slips with PO's, and coordinate with Receiving and Accounting.
Create and maintain reports on open orders, delivery dates, material usage, and supplier performance.
Clearly communicate delivery timelines and expected arrival dates to internal customers -- primarily R&D and Maintenance -- and to other departments as orders/POs are completed on their behalf, noting any potential impacts on production or project timelines.
Cross-Department Support
Participate in purchasing and operations meetings to stay aligned with planning priorities.
Share updates with Production, Inventory Control, R&D, Maintenance, and other departments regarding part availability and delivery expectations.
Support sourcing alternatives for discontinued, long lead-time, or project-specific parts.
Assist with maintaining the approved vendor list and supplier performance records.
Qualifications
Education and Training
High school diploma required.
Post-secondary education in business, supply chain, or agricultural equipment technology is an asset.
Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Exact MAX) preferred.
Experience
1-3 years of purchasing or procurement experience, ideally in a manufacturing or agricultural environment, or a willingness to learn.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) required.
Core Competencies
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with vendors and internal teams.
Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Basic understanding of agricultural equipment parts and manufacturing processes is an asset.
Team-focused with a willingness to learn and take direction.
