United Floral Distributors (UFD) is looking for a purchaser to purchase flowers and make procurement decisions that support UFD's overall business strategy. We work in a fast paced and exciting industry that is constantly changing. As the purchaser, you will be given the responsibility to manage and develop a range of products through the following ways: detailed market analysis, managing and implementing quality control standards and procedures, contract negotiation, managing existing suppliers, sourcing new suppliers, price setting and new business/product development. You will work with a strong supply base that will enable you to deliver the highest quality products, continuous product innovation, and competitive pricing.
Requirements:
Excellent computer skills including typing and ability to learn new computer programs
Proficient with office software programs (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
Strong Organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to prioritize between multiple on-going task's
Strong commercial ability
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Flair for negotiating, persuading and networking
Ability to work independently or within a group
Passionate about all aspects of the plant and floral industry
Detail oriented
Ability to process paperwork and enter orders quickly and efficiently
Previous experience the floral industry with supply of plants and flowers is a plus
Bachelor's degree in related field (Retail, Business, Supply-Chain, etc.) is a plus
Responsibilities & Duties:
Fulfilling incoming floral orders and forecasting levels of demand to meet business needs and keeping a constant check on stock levels
Monitoring product quality and developing strategy to consistently improve quality and results
Identifying potential suppliers, and building and maintaining good relationships with existing supplier
Communicate with the department staff in regards to floral products and inventory control issues
Monitor and manage live inventory
Negotiating and securing contracts to include monitoring progress and ensuring quality of products or services
Liaising between growers, relevant internal departments and customers
Reconciling orders and invoices, ensuring all costs are accurate and accounted for including delivery and other charges, etc.
Preparing price and availability lists for sales staff
Identifying, testing, and recommending new products
Preparing portfolio reports and proposing cost saving initiatives for your product range
Completing market analysis of competitor products, pricing, promotions, packaging, trends, loyalty programs, marketing initiatives, and conducting research to determine the best products and suppliers in terms of value, delivery schedules and quality
Covering for other purchasers

This job is a Full-time position. The hours are Monday to Friday: 8:00-4:30pm or until finish. Additional hours will be required during busy seasons.
Compensation/Salary:
Starting at $50,000 but does increase, Depending on Experience (DOE)
