, Alberta is recruiting a Purchaser.
The Purchaser
oversees the creation and management of corporate purchase orders, assists with vendor management and is a resource for the mill. Utilizing their proficiency and knowledge in procurement, this individual will work within the Supply Chain Team to ensure West Fraser receives the best value for money while ensuring efficiencies in process and decreasing risk and financial exposure. The incumbent will build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and provide assistance to the mill, ensuring that West Fraser's Corporate Procurement Policy and purchasing procedures are followed.
You'll Do:
Responsible for the creation and management of POs in alignment with West Fraser's Financial Policies, as well as tracking and receiving purchases.
Issuing stores material as required, including inventory for project, work order and direct charge items
Maintain a safe level of inventory of all critical parts in Stores to ensure no downtime due to parts not being on hand when required
Use Oracle & Maximo systems to manage and perform inventory functions
Assist in the control of spare parts inventory, including warehousing (labeling, organizing, adding new stock), issues, returns, replenishment, and disposal of stock (obsolescence, surplus)
Perform annual inventory cycle counts
Support new vendor setup requests for the business in conjunction with Accounts Payable.
Inventory Control: checks for and reports any discrepancies between material being put away and the balance of stock on hand
Assisting in unpacking and checking quantity and condition of incoming material
Working closely with the Supply Chain Team, establish a continuous improvement process and operating rhythm to systematically review and improve the processes and policies related to all Procurement activities as they relate to their responsibilities.
Assisting with ERP and Maintenance system implementation projects and changes as they relate to Procurement.
Assist Supply Chain Managers with the management of vendors.
Special projects and tasks, as assigned.
Authorizes payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation

Grade 12 diploma
Desire to learn, grow and succeed
Ability to work Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day

A background in stores or parts warehousing
The following will be considered strong assets
:
5+ years experience in purchasing within an ERP and/or maintenance system in an industrial or manufacturing environment, with preference to an individual with forestry experience.
Experience working in an industrial computerized environment.
Experience with inventory management systems, including Oracle/Maximo
Parts journeyperson ticket or enrolled in a purchasing or parts certificate
