Job Summary
Dalhousie Medical School attracts some of Canada's top students, physicians, and health researchers. With campuses in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Saint John, New Brunswick, and over 100 teaching sites across the Maritimes, we provide aspiring doctors and health researchers with the highest caliber of education. Reporting to the Associate Dean, Research, the Pulse Sandbox Manager is responsible for running the day-to-day activities of the sandbox, managing programming, and engaging the public and other stakeholders such as students, industry and other universities.
Key Responsibilities
Independently manages projects, including planning, organizing, and executing events and programming, working with partners to develop topics and participants, preparing materials for activities, and providing on-site assistance during program delivery.
Works closely with provincial sandboxes, faculties across Dalhousie and other Nova Scotia institutions, and Dal Innovates programs to ensure effective design, communication, and engagement for all events and programming.
Develops processes and mechanisms to engage students, industry partners, and other stakeholders, and effectively measure program development and delivery.
Provides strategic advice and expertise to students in how to collaborate, create, communicate and problem solve using technology.
Coordinates the administration of the sandbox, including managing finances and budgeting.
Note
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work from within Nova Scotia) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
Required Qualifications
Undergraduate degree, plus approximately three years' experience in a related role (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
Strong organizational skills, interpersonal acumen and problem solving ability.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, and an enthusiasm for working with and encouraging students.
Experience with social media, website maintenance, and financial administration.
Must be able to lead effectively and direct different cross-functional programs and projects of varied sizes and types concurrently.
Must be able to work both independently, as well as part of a team and be proactive.
Assets
Experience working in innovation/entrepreneurship programs and/or high-growth entrepreneurial activities.
Master's degree in a medical/health-related discipline.
