The services, facilities, programming and expertise available in the Library support innovative teaching, learning, and scholarship across campus. The Library includes the Archives and Special Collections, and specialized and technology-enriched teaching and learning spaces, including information literacy classrooms, a Maker Studio, audio production rooms, and a range of visualization, simulation, and immersive spaces.The Library values a healthy inclusive workplace, encourages a culture of innovation and teamwork, and provides support for professional development. The Library team consists of approximately 60 employees.About the RoleThe PSA, Scholarship and Open Publishing provides support and assistance for MRU Library initiatives that further the university community\'s ongoing scholarship and research efforts, including the Library\'s scholarship and scholarly dissemination initiatives. The role collaborates within the Library and with our diverse community of researchers to provide information, services and support for Open Access, Open Education, Open Data, and Undergraduate Research initiatives led by or involving the Library.This position provides one-to-one instruction, assistance and support for Library users (students, staff, faculty) with a range of research-related tasks, skills, and knowledge to support their academic work and their information needs in-person and virtually.The PSA Scholarship and Open Publishing provides information, user support, training and troubleshooting services on platforms and systems that support Open and Digital publishing, including the Institutional Repository, Open Journal Systems and Pressbooks platforms.Note: This position works a Tuesday-to-Saturday schedule for the Fall and Winter semesters and transitions to a Monday-to-Friday schedule for the Spring and Summer semesters. This position is a full-time role working 35 hours per week and requires occasional evening shifts.ResponsibilitiesAssists with the development, implementation, and delivery of educational, instructional, and outreach programs and materials to promote and increase awareness of digital and open publishing, including open access, open education, open data, research data management, e-publishing, author rights and copyrightProvides support for the institutional repository including: identifying / depositing / updating materials in the Institutional Repository on behalf of users, and assisting users with the deposit process; monitoring repository traffic and relevant statistics and metrics, liaising with the IR metadata editing team in Collections & Metadata/Technical services on adding and editing metadataProvides information, support, and services to support open publishing at MRU Library including support for researchers and journal publishers using platforms such as OJS and Pressbooks platformsProvides one-on-one instruction and assistance to Library users (students, faculty and staff) in both virtual and physical environments, to assist them in meeting their information needsAssists users with current and emerging Library learning technologies and equipment (including computers, media equipment, printers, audio production equipment and software; and the technologies available in the Library\'s Maker Studio, and Visualization and immersive spaces)Processes materials and equipment, including course reserves, interlibrary loans and other materials, to make items available to Library usersQualifications and Experience3-4 year Bachelor\'s degree2 to 3 years of relevant experience.Library education, such as Library and Information Technology diploma or equivalent is an asset.Experience working with or instructing undergraduate students in academic libraries is a strong asset.Experience with digital publishing and Open Access publishing, including Open Journal System (OJS) and PressBooks is an asset.Salary: $51,745 - $65,500 per annum.Closing Date: July 01, 2024.A cover letter and resume should be submitted in one .pdf document.
