Under the authority of the Lieutenant, the work consists of coordinating and supervising the activities of a team of patrol officers. The incumbent assigns duties, trains personnel and ensures compliance with regulations. In addition, the incumbent performs the various duties assigned to the Patroller job.
EXAMPLES OF TASKS PERFORMED
Team coordination
Coordinates and monitors the operational activities of the patrol officers under his/her charge;
Assigns tasks and informs patrol officers at the beginning of the shift;
Monitors the behaviour of the employees for whom he/she is responsible, informs them of any deviation and, if necessary, refers them to his/her superior;
Holds information meetings;
Conducts training for new patrol officers;
Carries out the assignment of vehicles and equipment;
Ensures that the uniforms of the agents under his/her responsibility are clean and proper;
Verifies event reports and violation notices issued by the patrol officers under their charge;
Actively participates in management meetings.
Operations
Performs all patroller duties;
Accompanies patrol officers on inspections;
Performs noise measurements with a sound level meter and conducts acoustic studies;
Installs meter plates for Engineering Department studies;
Performs any other duties as requested by a superior.
Equipment and maintenance
Ensures the availability and proper functioning of equipment as well as the cleanliness of patrol vehicles.
REQUIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
The person selected must meet the following conditions:
Hold a high school diploma (DES) or equivalent.
Possess two (2) years of experience in a job that allows the incumbent to become familiar with the field of employment.
hold a valid class 4A (emergency) driver's license.
QUALITIES
French and English, spoken and written. Radio systems.
Knowledge of English is a requirement due to potential interactions with the Town's citizens.*
