Winter 2026 Internship: Public Relations & Government Relations
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid/Remote)
Duration: 4 months (Full-time)
Brown & Cohen Communications & Public Affairs is seeking three motivated interns to join our team for the Winter 2026 term. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in both public relations and government relations, working directly with senior-level staff - including our President, Howard Brown. Internships can be completed in exchange for college or university credit where applicable.
Ideal Candidate
We're looking for students or recent graduates who are:
? Studying public relations, communications, government relations, or a related program
? Passionate about politics and current affairs
? Strong writers and researchers with an eye for detail
? Curious, proactive, and eager to learn in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Public Relations Internship Responsibilities:
? Draft and schedule content calendars
? Design visuals using Canva Pro
? Edit short-form videos for social platforms
? Research hashtags, trends, and engagement opportunities
? Provide daily community management suggestions
? Compile analytics reports and draft client updates
? Research client-related topics and draft media materials (advisories, newsletters, etc.)
? Develop and maintain media lists
? Monitor media coverage and industry news
? Support other communications activities as needed
Public Affairs Internship Responsibilities:
? Assist account leads with drafting letters, briefing notes, and other correspondence
? Conduct research on current affairs, legislative history, and stakeholder positions
? Support client campaigns with backgrounders, advocacy materials, and presentations
? Contribute to stakeholder engagement planning and outreach
? Participate in government relations strategy discussions
? Support other political and public affairs initiatives as required
