Position Summary

:


The Therapy Assistant assist's Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in helping patients recovering from surgery, illnesses, and injuries to manage pain and to regain movement. The Therapy Assistant is involved with implementing patient treatment interventions as outlined by the supervising Therapist. The Therapy Assistant helps promote the health of patients by assisting patients to maintain and restore function, and develop skills for participation in daily activities.


Position Requirements:



Graduate of an approved Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy Assistant college program. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification. Knowledge of, and ability to demonstrate corporate core competencies including customer service, communication, team work, initiative/self-management and accountability, and flexibility/adaptability. Knowledge of the use and application of patient handling equipment and procedures. Employee must demonstrate basic computer skills Effective communication and organizational skills Commitment to maintain and promote healthy working relationships Ability to work with diverse patients and interdisciplinary staff populations. Demonstrated ability to use patient handling equipment safely and effectively. Demonstrated physical stamina to assist in the mobilization, transfer and/or positioning of patients Must be capable of repetitive bending and lifting and be able to stand and walk for a major part of the day. Demonstrated skills in the areas of organization, communication, and interpersonal relations. Successfully able to perform their function in accordance with prescribed standards that focuses on the priority of People Safety and the delivery of the highest standard of Quality Care. Demonstrate the physical and mental capabilities necessary for proper and efficient performance of the essential duties of the position.

Preferred Requirements:



Acute Care hospital experience Recent practice in therapy Familiarity with electronic documentation system
