Status: Part-Time (September 6, 2023 - December 12, 2023)

Salary: Academic start salaries are determined by qualifications and years of related experience.
What you will do:
The University of Guelph-Humber invites talented, committed individuals interested in teaching on a part-time basis to take the first step in joining our dynamic faculty team for the Winter 2023 semester. We are accepting applications for part-time Professor in the Media and Communication Studies program.
The incumbent will be responsible for teaching a course called MDST3120, Digital Graphic Design II. Candidates will be responsible for creating an effective adult learning environment, facilitating learning and classroom interaction, assessing student progress and providing student feedback.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Students in this course learn to design projects in different formats, and for specific audiences, messaging and objectives. They learn the fundamentals of typography; how to write and design according to a creative brief; the differences between designing for print and online, as well as between journalistic (news and information) environments compared to those of marketing and corporate communications. They learn how use visual language to execute branding objectives, and create a complex design project that demonstrates knowledge of the advanced capabilities of digital graphic design software.
Qualifications
What you bring to the role:
The successful candidate will hold credentials at or equivalent to the Masters level, in or closely related to graphic design \xe2\x80\x93 particularly as it relates to a variety of applications in media (for example, publishing, marketing, corporate communications.) In addition, they must have a minimum three years\xe2\x80\x99 industry experience as a designer, with demonstrable experience and expertise in a variety of applications. Definite assets include experience teaching at the post-secondary level, and creating designs and brand guidelines for a variety of clients.
