Visit us today and check out to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.About the OpportunityThe Borderline Personality Disorder Treatment Program is an outpatient, tertiary care service that provides intensive treatment for adults with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Our team has received intensive training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT); however, our overall approach is one of assimilative integration. That is, our treatment is anchored in and adherent to DBT, providing all four modes of treatment (including telephone consultation during office hours), yet we integrate principles and techniques from other orientations, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and process group theory. Clinicians contribute to the academic mandate of the Mental Health and Addictions Program through program evaluation, clinical research, teaching, clinical supervision, and consultation to other teams and services within the Mental Health and Addictions Program.Reporting to the Health Services Manager, Specialty Services and the Clinical Director, the Psychologist will be a part of an interdisciplinary team providing specialized assessment and treatment of BPD. They will provide direct clinical care, supervise other clinicians and trainees, and contribute to the academic mandate of the Mental Health and Addictions Program.Please Note: Recruitment incentives may be offered to the successful candidates based on qualifying criteria.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Recognized doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology or eligible for registration.
  • Experience teaching and providing clinical supervision.
  • Knowledge of and experience providing evidence-based interventions for a range of mental health problems.
  • Training in and experience conducting psychodiagnostics assessments.
  • Capable of independent professional judgment, initiative, self-reliance, and adaptability in developing, organizing, supervising, and delivering high quality psychological services.
  • Interest in and experience conducting program evaluation.
  • Registered or eligible for registration under NSBEP
  • Eligible for academic appointments with the Departments of Psychology and/or Psychiatry at Dalhousie University
  • Training in and experience providing Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, and/or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy are particular assets.
  • Training and experience in group treatment and/or process groups
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
