Your Opportunity:
The successful applicant will work within the Pediatric Rehabilitation Division on multidisciplinary teams offering treatment, consultation, and/or assessment. The age group of focus in this position is school-age children and adolescents, although some services may also be provided to younger children (i.e., infants, toddlers, and pre-school aged-children). The psychologist will be involved in the provision of short-term individual therapy as well as the development and provision of group-based treatment with children or adolescents with a variety of physical/medical and emotional/behavioral issues. Group-based work with parents/caregivers may also be provided as appropriate. The psychologist may also be involved in multidisciplinary diagnostic assessments of children with complex developmental and/or learning problems including diagnoses such as developmental delays, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, and Specific Learning Disorders. In addition, the psychologist will consult with and/or provide education to community providers in order to build capacity.
Description:
As a Psychologist II, you will provide advanced clinical services (including psychological assessment, diagnosis and/or intervention), consultation and education to the interprofessional team and patients/families, and/or provides clinical leadership and coordination in an assigned program area. This is an advanced level psychology position that will allow you to work with or within teams to provide and inform services for patients with complex and multi-dimensional medical, psychological, interpersonal, environmental and/or instrumental needs. You will consult, collaborate, and enact initiatives to ensure that practices are evidence based and in alignment with psychology standards of practice and code of ethics, as well as policy, legislation and regulations. You will be expected to lead, facilitate and/or participate in program, policy, and procedure development, service planning, staff development, quality improvement and evaluation, and/or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s). You may provide supervision to doctoral level psychology residents, master's level interns, provisional psychologists, psychometrists and other team members.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of doctoral degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from a Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) or American Psychological Association (APA) program. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in Psychology from an accredited university program is preferred although a Master's Degree with relevant experience will be considered. Registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists as a Registered Psychologist is preferred, however Provisional Psychologists are encouraged to apply. Supervision may be arranged for a qualified individual. Knowledge of various physical/medical conditions (e.g., cerebral palsy, spina bifida), learning disorders, early development, behavior problems, and Autism Spectrum Disorders preferred. Preference given to those with experience in both assessment and treatment of children across the age span with complex presentations. Experience in administration and interpretation of common assessment instruments would be an asset (e.g., WPPSI-IV, WISC-V, WIAT-III). Demonstrated ability to work on a multidisciplinary team within a fast-paced outpatient setting is an asset. Responsible to provide proof of active registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) and to maintain registration throughout the duration of employment.
