This position is part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).
In accordance with the , this position has a comprehensive and an annual salary range of $75,255 to $124,959. A market supplement in the amount of $12,917 will be added to the annual salary. This position has an end date of November 30, 2026.
Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.
Operating within the office of Student Success and Experience, Counselling & Clinical Services (CCS) invites applications for the temporary TLAPO position of Registered Master's Psychologist. The Registered Psychologist works out of the central clinic located in the Students' Union Building on the North Campus. Reporting to the Director of CCS, the Registered Psychologist is accountable for the provision of individual and group counselling to a dynamic and motivated post-secondary population with diverse perspectives and experiences. The successful candidate will be comfortable counselling within a short-term therapy framework and working with a wide range of presenting mental health concerns. The position works within a multidisciplinary team environment composed of psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, Doctoral Residents and Master's Practicum students in psychology, and administrative support staff.
Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-person and telehealth/virtual short-term counselling to University of Alberta students for a broad range of mental health concerns. Responsible for the timely completion of paperwork and charting.
  • Connect students to community resources and other health and wellness services as needed, particularly in cases where longer-term treatment is required.
  • Develop and facilitate occasional in-person or telehealth/virtual group therapy programs and psycho-educational workshops.
  • Contribute to CCS program evaluation, development, and improvement, with an emphasis towards building services that improve access, community and belonging.
Qualifications:
  • A Master's degree in Psychology (counselling or clinical).
  • Registration in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists.
  • Familiarity and adherence to the Health Professions Act, Health Information Act, Protection of Privacy Act, CAP Standards of Practice, Canadian Code of Ethics, and the CAP Practice Guidelines for Psychologists.
  • Comfortable working with technology such as Microsoft Office and Google Apps, video conferencing software such as Zoom, Electronic Records Management systems for documentation and appointment bookings, etc.
  • Capacity to work in a busy clinic with high service demands; flexible and teamwork-based approaches required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with diverse and equity-deserving communities, such as First Nations, Metis, or Inuit peoples; 2SLGBTQ+ individuals; people with disabilities; and newcomers or international students.
  • Fluency in a second language for counselling, particularly French or Mandarin.
  • 5 years post-registration, and the capacity to supervise Master's level practicum students.
